Client Care
Care
A few small habits keep a mechanical watch running true and looking its best for a lifetime.
The movement
Your watch is a Swiss automatic. It winds itself from the motion of your wrist. Worn daily, it keeps running on its own. If it has been set aside for a day or two and stops, wind the crown gently about thirty turns, then reset the time before wearing.
Water
The case is rated to 50 metres, which means it is safe from rain and the occasional splash while washing your hands. It is not made for swimming or diving. Avoid hot water, showers, saunas and steam, which can compromise the seals over time.
The leather strap
- Keep it dry. Leather and water are not friends; moisture shortens its life.
- Let it breathe between wears, and avoid prolonged direct sunlight.
- The quick-release spring bars let you change straps by hand, with no tools.
The crystal and case
The sapphire crystal resists scratches but is not unbreakable. Wipe the watch with a soft, dry cloth to keep it bright. For a deeper clean, a slightly damp cloth on the case alone is enough. Never use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
Storage and servicing
When not worn, keep your watch in its box, away from extremes of heat, humidity and strong magnetic fields. Have the movement serviced every three to five years to keep it accurate. See Warranty for how to arrange a service.
